Laura Allen
Laura is a CFE with a Masters of Science in Accounting from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University. Laura is an expert witness who specializes in forensic accounting, leading the team on all fraud examination engagements. She brings over 15 years of experience to the team with a background in small business accounting management, as well as federal, state and local tax matters.
Laura lives in Dallas with her twins. She is a coffee nerd (read: addict), and a patron of the fine arts. Her hobbies include writing music, creating mixed media art, gardening, studying history and socio-political issues.
Ron Allen
Ron has been a CPA for over 40 years and is a former tax partner in the KPMG Peat Marwick accounting firm. Ron is a graduate of the University of Houston and lives in Dallas area. Ron’s expertise is in federal income tax, partnerships, and bankruptcy. Ron’s business acumen extends to real estate development and financing, drawing on his experience during the real estate crisis in the 1980’s when he managed clients with $1.5 billion in debt.
Ron is a current and former officer, director, and investor in many private companies. He has served on a number of nonprofit boards as a financial and business advisor, and has helped numerous nonprofits in their formation process. As a principal consultant on fraud examinations and a provider of expert witness testimony on his areas of expertise, he is an invaluable asset to the Pencil Team.
Taren Honey
Taren is our dedicated Client Services Manager who has been a valuable asset to our firm for the past four years. With a strong background in accounting and a natural aptitude for numbers, Taren approaches her work with precision and enthusiasm. Her colleagues appreciate her meticulous attention to detail and her ability to navigate complex financial landscapes with ease.
Taren lives in New York with her husband and dogs. During her free time, Taren enjoys tending to her own collection of plants at home, nurturing their growth and appreciating their natural beauty. Taren's passion for both accounting and nature reflects her well-rounded personality and her ability to find joy in diverse aspects of life.
